You are a member of the public health department when a crisis occurs.

Public health has already laid the groundwork of preparing the public for emergencies through preparedness campaigns. You have been designated as a member of the Emergency Risk Communication Team, helping with its risk communication response.

Your team’s objectives are to:

  1. Show a caring, compassionate, and competent response
  2. Disperse credible and consistent information rapidly
  3. Promote key messages as needed
  4. Set reasonable public expectations
  5. Emphasize the need to comply with public health measures

In this simulation you will have a chance to practice answering questions from the media and the public, developing and delivering messages, and identifying communication channels.
